The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop: Minding Your Own Business side quest Walkthrough

The Minding Your Own Business side quest is exclusive only to PS4 and PS5 players from the game’s release date. All other platforms will be able to access this side quest on February 10, 2024.

The side quest can be played during the latter part of the game in winter time.

To start the side quest, talk to the house-elf outside the vacant shop in Hogsmeade, near the South Hogsmeade Floo Flame.

Speak with Cassandra Mason

After speaking to Penny the house-elf, she tells you to look for Cassandra Mason who is the owner of the shop. Follow the tracker to locate Cassandra within the town.

Collect 1,500 Galleons to purchase the shop from Cassandra Mason

After talking to Cassandra, she agrees to sell you the shop for 1,500 Galleons. Once you have the amount, talk to Cassandra once more so that she can hand over the shop’s paperwork to you. She also asks for some help in gathering her late husband’s belongings in the shop for her. She then gives you the key to her husband’s chest.

Speak to Penny the house-elf

Head back to the shop and talk to Penny so that you can enter the shop.

Clean up and make repairs

Inside the shop, cast Reparo on the clutter to fix them up. Then talk to Penny and she will tell you where the chest is.

At this point, it’s best to prepare for the dungeon ahead. You would not be able to get out of it until you complete the dungeon. Make sure that you have your best gear on and you have stocked up on potions.

Open the mysterious chest

Go to the other room in the shop and you’ll find the chest. Interact with it and a cutscene will play, showing a ladder inside the chest going down into the ground.

Explore what lies below

For this part, you’ll be following through a path full of shifting and changing rooms. It’s mostly straightforward, but because of how everything moves, it can get confusing.

You’ll first arrive at a room full of old stuff and some mannequins. There’s also a chest that contains An Elf-Sized Hat. To proceed, try leaving the room, but the door will be shut. Turn around to see a mannequin and then try to hit it with a spell to get transported into a dark room full of hanging mannequins.

Cast Lumos and wander around the room to find a hallway. Continue following the path through the several shifting rooms until you arrive at a room with a large locked door.

To open this door, look to the right side and locate a lamp at a distance. Use Accio and Wingardium Leviosa to carry the lamp and hang it on the other pedestal and it will unlock the door.

Head inside the next room and you’ll meet a being named Fastidio who has been the voice that you’ve been hearing while navigating the rooms. He is a poltergeist that appears to be malevolent and has you as his next victim in his game. For now, you need to play along as you try to find an exit in his maze.

Fastidio will then disappear and chuck furniture your way. You can either attack these furniture before they reach you or dodge out of the way.

There are two rooms to explore at both sides of the foyer and you can pick either one to start with. For now, head to the left room first to reach the library.

Explore the library

Once you’re inside the library, you will need to find two lanterns to hang on the pedestals and open the door. The place will be an entire maze and you’ll definitely get lost, but Fastidio will be chiming in from time to time to drop in clues to help you. Don’t forget to cast Lumos as you’ll be going through pitch dark rooms.

Go to the right side of the library and you’ll end up in a room with three doors. Enter the door that opens up and then go through its maze to get back to this room. Do this two more times to find the lantern.

At one point in the library, you’ll be in a corridor that seems to go in circles. If you find yourself in this corridor, turn around and retrace your steps. Another room will have you go through a long corridor which turns into a small room. If you have Lumos casted, turn it off for a moment and you’ll be surrounded by mannequins.

In the final library room, you’ll find a suspicious jack-in-the-box. Interact with it and you’ll be fighting against mannequins which will now be charging at you in numbers. Defeat all of them and you’ll be able to get the first lantern.

Back at the library, head over to the left side and you’ll go through different upside-down rooms while locating lanterns to proceed. In case you feel stuck in this part, always turn around as any door or passageway that you have passed through will either have changed or have opened while you’re not looking. Once you’ve solved the room puzzles, you’ll arrive back at the library with the next lantern that you need.

Entertain Fastidio

Go through the library door and you’ll find a huge room. Fastidio will appear and start charging at you. You can’t do anything much to him other than dodge his attacks.

Return to the foyer

Head back tot he foyer to reach the next area.

Explore the atrium

Go to the other room to reach the Atrium. Similar to the library, you’ll need to go through a bunch of shifting rooms to find two lanterns that will open the next room. Like before, these rooms will change once your camera view is looking away, so make sure to rotate your view in case you find yourself lost.

Once you arrive in the void full of doors, use Accio and Wingardium Leviosa to move a single lantern across the platforms. Be careful as there are floating object around that will throw themselves at you and cause you to fall into the void; destroy these once you see them.

Afterwards, you’ll be sent in a room where mannequins will start pouring out from the doors. Defeat all of them to proceed. You’ll then find the first lantern that you need. Hang it on the pedestal and move to the other side of the atrium.

In the other side, you’ll be sent into a huge chess room. You need to traverse the room without getting attacked by the chess pieces. You don’t need to have some knowledge about how to play chess, but it would certainly help. You can also look at the floor tiles to see if they are cracked as these are the spaces that are not safe or simply use Revelio to see them. You can roll towards a tile that’s diagonally away from you as long as you don’t touch the cracked floors.

Once you’ve cleared the chess room, you’ll reach the next lantern for the atrium door.

Play with the Poltergeist

You’ll arrive at the huge room once more with Fastidio floating around. Like before, he will be throwing items at you which you can break beforehand. He will also summon mannequins to charge at you. Defeat all the mannequins and his attack will end.

Return to the foyer

Head back to the foyer and you’ll see that the main door will open up.

Venture beyond the foyer doors

Go through the door and follow the path which will lead you to a cemetery. A cutscene with Fastidio will begin as he offers you a deal with his haunting at the shop.

Challenge Fastidio

Fastidio will then challenge you to a fight. He will be throwing items at you which you can dodge to avoid. He will also create Fastidio’s Monster which is a golem made out of barrels and crates; keep attacking this monster and prepare for the attack prompts to evade its attacks. He will also summon more mannequins to increase the challenge.

Once you’ve reached the final third of the monster’s health, Fastidio will rotate your view. Your controls for left and right will also be inverted during this time. Quickly destroy the monster to get your view back to normal.

Once the monster is defeated, Fastidio will yield and talk about the contract. You can then agree to his contract and end the dungeon by climbing back up the ladder to Hogsmeade.

Speak to Penny

You’ll be back inside the shop where you can speak to Penny. You can choose whichever response to go for during this dialogue. You’ll then have to seek out help from Officer Singer.

Seek out Officer Singer

Follow the marker to reach Officer Singer and report to her what Cassandra has been doing with her shop.

Confront Cassandra Mason

Go back to Cassandra’s house where she will greet your and Officer Singer. You’ll then be fighting against Cassandra herself.

On the first phase of the fight, she will be using her spells at you. You can quickly unleash your combos at her and move on the the next phase.

For the second phase, Cassandra will then start hurling rocks at you. Dodge the first two rocks then time your Protego on the third one and you’ll be able to use the rock to hurl back at her and break her shield. You can then continue to attack once her shield is down. Rinse and repeat until you get to the third phase.

On the final phase, Cassandra will be more agile as she mixes spells and teleport around. Same as before, avoid the attacks and wait for her to do the rock attack to get a chance to break her shield. Once the shield is down, continue dealing damage to her until she recovers. After depleting her health, she will then be tied down and arrested by Officer Singer.

Return to the Shop

Head back to the shop and talk to Penny about Cassandra’s arrest and the shop’s transfer of ownership. You can also give Penny the Elf-Sized Hat that you’ve seen earlier to make her a free elf. Lastly, you’ll have to choose a sign for the shop from a set of options. Afterwards, you’ll complete the quest and receive the additional rewards.
